Cloudscape cream L-shaped sofa in a bright living room, with Wood & More logo and sofa size guide headline.

Before ordering an L-shaped sofa in Egypt, check three things: its complete footprint, the side of the return or chaise, and the route it must travel into your home. A sofa can fit along a wall yet still block a doorway, crowd the center table or fail to turn on a staircase.

This guide focuses on measurement and delivery planning. For the wider room layout, see our small living room furnishing guide.

1. Draw the room before choosing a sofa

Sketch the room from above and mark doors, windows, columns and fixed furniture. Measure the usable length of each wall rather than relying on the room's advertised area. Include skirting boards, projecting window sills and any feature that prevents furniture sitting where you expect.

Draw the door swing and the routes you use to reach the balcony, dining area and other rooms. A corner that appears empty in a photograph may be part of your main walking route. Decide which routes must remain clear before selecting a larger sofa.

2. Ask for the complete footprint, not just the seat size

An L-shaped sofa needs more than one measurement. Ask for the overall length of the main section and the full projection of the return, including arms and backrests. Also request the overall back height and the depth of the standard seating section. Seat height and seat depth describe comfort; they are not substitutes for external dimensions.

  • Main section: measure from the outer edge of one end to the outer edge of the other.
  • Return or chaise: confirm how far it projects into the room.
  • Overall height: check the highest fixed point, including the back.
  • Moving features: ask about the space required for adjustable backs, storage lids or a bed mechanism, if the chosen model has them.

If a listing leaves the meaning of a measurement unclear, request a labelled drawing before paying. Do not swap height and depth yourself or infer the size from a styled image.

3. Confirm left and right using a picture

“Left-hand” can be misunderstood when one person describes the sofa while facing it and another describes it while seated. Send a marked room sketch and a product picture with the return circled. Ask the seller to confirm the exact configuration in writing.

Do not assume every modular-looking sofa is reversible. Ask which sections separate, whether the return can move to the other side, and whether the supplied configuration matches the photograph. Where customization is offered, confirm the chosen layout, fabric and final dimensions together.

4. Test the footprint on the floor

Use removable tape to outline the sofa's full external footprint. Mark the center table and TV unit as well, including space to open their drawers and doors. Walk through the layout, pull out nearby dining chairs and test access to sockets and curtains.

There is no single clearance that works for every household. Leave enough space for your everyday movement and any mobility needs. If the taped layout feels cramped, compare a different configuration before reducing the walking routes you rely on.

5. Measure the delivery route separately

Room fit does not guarantee delivery access. Record the clear opening of the building entrance, apartment door and internal doorways with the doors open. Check corridor turns, stair landings and the lift entrance as well as the lift interior.

Ask for the dimensions of the largest delivered section, including packaging. Confirm whether legs or other parts are removable and whether the delivery team handles assembly. Photos and measurements help the team assess access, but obtain their confirmation rather than deciding from a single doorway-width comparison.

Before placing the order, confirm delivery coverage, charges and any extra arrangements required for your building. Do not assume a lift, external hoist or special access service is included.

6. Compare actual designs with the same checklist

Use the Cloudscape L-Shape Corner and Pouvana L-Shape Corner Sofa as starting points when browsing Wood & More. Open each product page for the current options, then ask for a confirmed dimension drawing for the configuration you want.

A product's appearance is only one part of the decision. Compare how you sit, the back support you prefer, fabric care instructions and what is included in the quoted price. Ask separately about stools, cushions or other accessories shown in images instead of assuming every styled item comes with the sofa.

Send this checklist before you order

  • Product name and selected configuration.
  • Room sketch with both available wall lengths and door positions.
  • Picture showing the required side of the return.
  • Confirmed overall footprint, back height and largest delivery-section size.
  • Doorway, lift and staircase measurements with photos of tight turns.
  • Chosen upholstery, included items, care instructions and warranty terms.
  • Written delivery and assembly details.
